Amy Hiland was one of the world’s greatest marathon swimmers. She learned to swim at 28 and within five years went on to conquer some of the greatest challenges known to the sport of marathon swimming.
In 1956, Amy Hiland became the first woman in history to swim the Strait of San Juan de Fuca. They called her the 'swimming housewife'. In 2017, I will attempt that very swim in honor of Amy - who was more than a just a housewife -- she was a marathon swimmer.
